The campsite LA GARENNE is located in EGUZON CHANTOME in the Indre, in the Centre, where you can set off to roam the trails of the Brenne national park, the land of a thousand lakes and discover the "garden of France". The campsite in Eguzon is located 2 km away by the River "la Creuse", 4 km away by the Lake d'Eguzon, in the Forest et 4 km away near a water sport centre: Base de plein aire d'Eguzon

Environment and nature

In the south of the department (36) Indre, between the provinces of the Berry and Limousin you will find here Eguzon and the Valley of the Creuse. Located in the foothills of the Massif Central mountain range, you will find a protected and authentic nature. Inspiration for famous French painters and writers such as Monet and Guillaumin, George Sand and Rollinat.

The Lac Eguzon is just 4 km from the campsite. Here you can among other things:

Irrigation dam

In 1926 there is a lake created of 312 hectares, by putting an area under water just outside Eguzon, this after building the biggest dam in Europe at that time. Eguzon and Valley Creuse offer a wide choice in the tourist industry such as water sports, cycling, hiking and many, sometimes hidden culture.


In the cultural sphere there is much to see in the area. For example, among other castles in Parnac, Gargilesse, museums in Argenton-sur-Creuse, Chaillac, Saint-Marcel and ruins of the castle in Crozant.


The sports enthusiast will not get bored on our campsite. In Lake Chambon activities include water-skiing, canoeing and surfing. No less than 200 kilometers of hiking trails along the lake and the countryside. You can also go mountain biking through the different areas. The hiking and biking trails are available at the office de tourisme. There are also recreational trails for children to solve puzzles for ages 4/6 years, 7/9 years, 10/12 years and for the parents.

  • In the centre of Eguzon there every year on July 14 and August 15 cozy fairs.
  • Last Saturday of August Fête de la batteuse et de l'artisanat with old tools / thresher that work even on steam.
  • Crozant: Here are ruins left over from the Middle Ages.
  • The dam Barage d'Eguzon, a huge building with a great view!
  • Many cultural activities throughout the area.
  • Annual Chestnut festival in late October and early November. 4 days hiking routes, walk in beautiful surroundings, then you can sit down to a delicious French meal in tents in the old city canal are built for this event.

Shopping and Markets

Every Wednesday there is a small market in the morning with various regional products, clothing, etc. In July and August there is on Friday afternoon / evening a market with regional products.You are also welcome in november The Chestnut Festival: 3 days of themed walks on the banks of lakes and Creuse. 2 days of celebration around the chestnut gastronomy with 2 days a market near the church.


For anglers it is a true paradise! The lakes, rivers, streams and lakes offer great fishing spots. Example, you can fish for trout in rivers in la Creuse, la la Clavière and Gargilesse. Eguzon itself you can buy the necessary fishing license.
